It’s no mystery that there may be cosmetic reasons to want to diminish the presence of a scar. While having a positive state of mind about your body image is something that we all strive for, it’s only natural to feel self-conscious and want to find a remedy that helps with your appearance. While these things take time, we wanted to also reassure you about one of the other benefits of ScarMD that you may not have known about:
Silicone scar gel also helps with scar pain
We’ve mentioned that scars will visibly fade with time through a skincare routine with ScarMD, but we have not yet mentioned about an increase in comfort that you will experience. Some users may never experience scar pain, but everybody is different, and there are variables such as skin type, type of scar, and size of scar.
In the early stages, scar tissue isn't always painful. This is because nerves in the area may have been destroyed along with healthy body tissues. But over time, scar tissue may become painful as nerve endings regenerate. Scar tissue forms when the body heals from a wound. However, scar tissue is not the same as skin tissue. It is less elastic, which may lead to tightness, limited movement, and pain for some people.
So while scar tissue may not always hurt at first, it is a possibility over time that you may need to find a healthy way to treat it. There are numerous treatment options that may reduce scar tissue pain. In fact several clinical trials have shown the efficacy of silicone scar in reducing scar pain. While ScarMD was not a direct subject of this study, our product falls into this category and has similar results.
“It has been reported to be effective and produce 86% reduction in texture, 84% in color and 68% in height of scars. Silicon gel exerts several actions which may explain this benefit in scars: Silicone gel reduces itching and discomfort associated with scars."
As more studies are conducted on silicone scar gel, we will only find out more benefits. We now know that your appearance and physical state will be improved by the use of silicone scar gel. We owe our thanks to the easy application, quick drying qualities, and form fitting hydration of silicone gel. So whether you’re trying to rid yourself of the discomfort of an old scar that’s been bothersome, or have a recent injury that you’d like to see be less pronounced, we’re glad to be a part of the solution and your skin care routine.
