ScarMD® Silicone Scar Gel rapidly dries to form a custom fitted silicone sheet sheet; this silicone gel sheet layer is gas permeable, flexible and waterproof. Our Silicone Scar Gel forms a bond with the stratum corneum (the outer layer of the dermis composed of dead skin cells) forming a protective barrier against chemical, physical and microbial invasion of the scar site while assisting with hydration. This creates an environment that allows the scar to mature through normalized collagen synthesis cycles and improves the physiological and cosmetic appearance of the scar.
- Ensure that the affected area is clean and dry
- Apply a very thin layer of gel and allow to dry
- Apply ScarMD® Silicone Scar Gel twice daily
- For maximum effect and best results, ScarMD® Silicone Scar Gel should have 24 hour contact with the skin
- Once dry, ScarMD® Silicone Scar Gel can be covered with sun block or cosmetics
- If ScarMD® Silicone Scar Gel has not dried within 4–5 minutes, you have probably used too much. Gently remove the excess and allow the drying process to continue.
ScarMD® Silicone Scar Gel is intended for the management of old and new hypertrophic and keloid scars resulting from general surgical procedures, trauma, wounds and burns. It may help to soften and flatten raised scars and reduce redness or discoloration associated with them. It may also reduce any itching or irritation you may still be experiencing.
The timing of results varies greatly from person to person. Clinical data shows that results can be seen in as little as 2 weeks using ScarMD™ Silicone Scar Gel twice daily, however on the majority of scars more noticeable improvement took about 3 months. Reduction of redness and itching are usually the first results noted.
Silicone sheets have a number of disadvantages over silicone gels: They can displace over time and while sleeping, bacteria can be trapped under them, they can cause excess sweating and can mascerate the skin beneath the sheet. Silicone gels bind to your skin and remove these disadvantages, and are shown to have equal clinical results.
Stretch marks, or Striae distensae (Striae gravidarum when related to pregnancy), are a natural dermatological skin condition that are often the result of rapid and sustained stretching of the skin. Common causes for stretch marks include pregnancy, growth spurts during puberty, excessive weight gain, rapid weight loss, hormonal changes, and even afflict body builders.with scars.
A mother’s skin blocks many skin care ingredients from entering her body, but small amounts of some ingredients are still absorbed into the bloodstream. Once there, they can cross the placenta and reach the growing fetus. That’s because the “placental barrier” is actually more of a widely spaced filter. It blocks things the size of bacteria, but allows most chemicals to pass easy through. The ScarMD® range has set a higher standard for prenatal safety in the cosmetic industry. ScarMD®‘s stretch mark products have been screened through teratology databases and are considered safe for use during pregnancy.
- DARUTOSIDE: A botanical ingredient from the plant siegesbeckia orientalis which is found n Ethiopia, Madagascar, Japan, and Australia. Darutoside has been shown to improve the appearance of a Stretch Mark. In controlled trials, Darutoside decreased the visible length of the Stretch Mark by 50%. In the same trial, the indentation depth was decreased by 55%.
- REGISTRIL: A combination of ingredients including Phaseolus lunatus (green bean extract), rutin (from fruits and berries). Clinical studies show that with topical use, twice daily for two months, Registril can improve a Stretch Mark’s color while also decreasing the appearance of its depth by up to 72%.
This ultra-thin waterproof sheet increases the hydration of the stratum corneum but also allows the skin underneath to breath. The thinner the layer, the more durable the material will be and the better the breath-ability. If ScarMD® Silicone Scar Gel is applied too thick then this reaction will take much longer and the gel will remain sticky.
Eczema (also known as Atopic Dermatitis) is inflammation of the skin, typically characterized by itchiness, redness and a rash. It's common in children but can occur at any age. Atopic dermatitis is long lasting (chronic) and tends to flare periodically. It may be accompanied by asthma or hay fever.
No cure has been found for eczema. But treatments and self-care measures can relieve itching and prevent new outbreaks. Treatment of atopic dermatitis is typically with moisturizers and steroid creams. Non-steroid creams are always preferred given the potentially severe side effects caused by steroid. Antibiotics may be required if there are signs of skin infection. Contact dermatitis is typically treated by avoiding the allergen or irritant.
DermaCare Plus™ and DermaCare Lite™ are skin barrier emollients that manage and relieve the burning, itching and pain experienced with various types of dermatoses, including eczema (atopic dermatitis), allergic contact dermatitis and radiation dermatitis.
DermaCare™ products are non-steroidal, lipid rich, and fragrance-free emulsions formulated with AIM Medical Inc’s proprietary technologies.
Among the ingredients are emollients (Sodium Hyaluronate, Petrolatum, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter, etc.) that work by forming an oily layer on the top of the skin that traps water in the skin, humectants (Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, etc.) that draw water into the outer layer of skin, and other components that soften the keratin.
All of these together help the dead skin cells fall off, help the skin keep in more water, and leave the skin feeling smoother and softer.
DermaCare Plus™ is designed to be applied when patients are experiencing the symtoms of various types of dermatoses. It is a prescription medical therapy to help manage and relieve the burning, itching and pain. Patients can only purchase the DermaCare Plus™ by physicians' diagnosis and prescriptions.
Dermacare Lite™ is a light version of DermaCare™ to enhance the treatment effects post usage of Plus. It can be used as a daily cream to prevent the eczema, skin itching, allergy, etc. It is an OTC product that is available in online or retial stores.
DermaCare Plus™ is a prescription (Rx) medicine that is available ONLY through physician's medical prescription. Please ask your doctor about your skin disease and the treatment plan before any medicine purchase.
DermaCare Lite™ is a Over-The-Counter (OTC) therapy to enhance the treatment effects post usage of DermaCare Plus™. It is available in the retail and AIM Medical online stores.
Seborrhoea (Seborrhoeic Dermatitis) is a long-term skin disorder. Symptoms include red, scaly, greasy, itchy, and inflamed skin. Areas of the skin rich in oil-producing glands are often affected including the scalp, face, and chest. It can result in social or self-esteem problems. In babies, when the scalp is primarily involved, it is called cradle cap. Dandruff is a milder form of the condition without inflammation.
